Logan County Jail Overview

Logan County Jail is operated by the Logan County Sheriff's Office. It is a full-service county jail, not a state prison or federal detention center. The facility is used for people arrested by the sheriff, Bellefontaine Police, village police departments, the Ohio State Highway Patrol on local charges, and other agencies that lodge people into Logan County custody.

The county corrections page says the current jail opened November 18, 2000, cost $8.5 million, and contains 45,000 square feet. It replaced a 1983 facility that held 34 inmates, and the county history also describes an older 1845 jail that held up to 17 inmates. Those history details help explain why current jail capacity should be taken from the modern facility and ODRC inspection, not older building figures.

Logan County Jail Capacity

The county page says the current jail was built to accommodate up to 140 inmates. The 2025 ODRC inspection gives a more current regulatory figure: 136 actual general housing beds. On September 30, 2025, inspectors reported 65 inmates present and found the facility compliant with all 179 standards reviewed.

Look Up Logan County Jail Inmates

The current lookup path is the Logan County Sheriff's Office app. The county corrections page says to download the free app to view the inmate roster. Because the app roster fields were not visible through the public web, avoid assuming a particular search field or refresh rate. For urgent or recent booking questions, call the jail.

  1. Download the Logan County Sheriff's Office app from the official app store.
  2. Open the roster or Inmate Services area.
  3. Search for the person in current Logan County Jail custody.
  4. Call 937-592-8111 if the app does not show the person, booking status, or needed field.
  5. Use ODRC, BOP, ICE, or Ohio VINE if the person was transferred or is in another custody system.

Custody scope: Logan County Jail records cover local jail custody. Sentenced Ohio prison records are searched through ODRC, not the county roster.

Booking at Logan County Jail

Intake begins when an arrested person is brought to the jail and accepted for lodging. Common steps include identity checks, warrant and hold checks, property intake, booking record creation, booking photo and fingerprints for covered offenses, medical or mental-health screening, and classification. Classification is the jail's housing and security assessment.

ODRC inspected reception and release, classification, security, housing, medical and mental-health services, inmate discipline, administrative segregation, grievances, recreation, programming, staffing, and staff training. The county also lists medical staff health services, GED classes, work release, religious services, and group and individual counseling.

The administrative intake record created after arrest.
Hold

Work release

Logan County Jail Programs

The county corrections page lists recreation, commissary, mail, work release, visitation, religious services, GED classes, group and individual mental-health counseling, group and individual drug/alcohol counseling, and medical staff health services. These programs do not guarantee eligibility for every inmate. Classification, custody status, discipline, court orders, medical needs, and staffing can affect access.

The corrections division also provides some public services, including concealed-carry permits and renewals, background checks, and fingerprinting services. Those services explain why jail and sheriff pages link to BCI or local background-check resources, but they are separate from inmate roster lookup.

Note: Confirm custody and visiting eligibility with Logan County Jail before traveling or sending funds.

Logan County Jail Inspection

The 2025 ODRC inspection is a useful facility record because it shows both capacity and operating compliance. Inspectors reviewed core full-service jail topics such as reception and release, security, housing, sanitation, communication, visitation, medical and mental-health services, food service, recreation and programming, discipline, segregation, grievance, staffing, and training. The report found Logan County Jail compliant with 53 Essential and 126 Important standards.

That inspection does not replace a live custody search. It describes the facility on the inspection date. For a current inmate, use the sheriff app roster and the jail phone line; for a person sentenced to state prison after a Logan County case, use ODRC instead.
